When to Use the System Restore Function

If you ever wondered what this little button called the System restore is all about. Well… be curious no more, we are about to explain it here in detail. System restore is an application which is found in windows, and it is used in restoring the computer to a previous state. The good thing about the system restore is the fact that it does not lose the critical data or files that may be on the system. It allows the user to select the time to which they want the computer to be reverted to. System restore function is available in different windows like windows 10, 8, 7, XP and windows me. When should one use system restore function?

When updates undo your system

Most windows computers are set such that they will automatically update maybe on daily or after some time. Therefore if some updates occur on your device, they end up deleting or undoing some previous activities that you were doing earlier on. In some cases, the updates interfere with your email downloads such that they hinder you from accessing your data on emails or you are unable to download data from emails. So, to restore your device to an earlier state, go to restore system wizard and choose the time and the date you wish to restore the system back to. This allows you to be able to access your email documents comfortably. Note that if the updates keep on occurring daily, the same problem will still happen. So, set your computer to notify you when it is about to update or allow you to select the updates that you want to be done on the system. This helps you prevent the issue from happening all the time. You can read more here about the data recovery options available.

If a program is interfering with your system

Some programs cause significant issues to the system such that they slow down the functioning of the computer or they cause the device to hang or even cause the computer to crash. If this continues to occur when using the device, you can also apply the system restore function to get your device to a previous mode. Keep in mind that once you reset the computer to an earlier state before you installed the nagging program, you will not be able to use or access it since it will be unavailable on the device. This means that anything that you installed after the date that you want to restore the system to will be automatically erased from the computer, and you cannot access it. While this might cause some minor issues, it certainly is much faster and cheaper than having to use a data recovery service such as data recovery Houston, or using some commercial software and not knowing if it will solve the issue.

If there is a new driver that is not working well

Have you installed a new driver for your computer but the computer is not functioning well? It could be the driver that is causing the computer to dysfunction, and if you don’t want to remove it, the other reliable option is by opting to restore the system. You can reset the system to a week earlier or even a day earlier before you installed the drive to the computer. Again keep in mind that the restore function does not solve the issue with your installed drive, but instead it helps you access your files. Thus if you want to troubleshoot the problem with the drive, you will have to seek help from a computer technician.
